About NIB

The mission of the National Institutes of Bioscience (NIB) is to deliver a national strategy in bioscience and respond effectively to global challenges. By working together, and in collaboration with UK universities and government labs, the member organisations can maximise the synergy between established activities and embark in new multidisciplinary research sharing best practice and resources.

The National Institutes of Bioscience foster bioscience teaching and training by providing outstanding postgraduate education. Furthermore, they seek to strengthen the international reputation of the UK as a world leader in bioscience research, through symposia, workshops and outreach activities, and contribute to inform government policy in the broad area of Biological Sciences.

The Research and Innovation Campuses that are emerging around the National Institutes of Bioscience are further fuelling the UK’s bioeconomy, maximising the impact and benefits of the Institutes’ research programmes.
